DENTAL CROWNS

When a tooth has been chipped, cracked or needs filling, then there’s a good chance you will need a dental crown.
As with any other dental procedure, it’s important for you to understand what is this and what are possible outcomes out of it.

Dental crowns are one of the more common methods to restore a tooth. While the procedure is common it is still a complicated undertaking.

A Dental Crown is a restorative procedure that helps reshape, resize and strengthen a tooth. Think of a crown as a type of cap that is attached to the tooth with an adhesive. It acts as the tooth’s outer surface.

Dental Crowns could be made from either porcelain or metal or a combination of the two. Porcelain is the most popular material as it closely resembles the natural color and is extremely durable.

INLAYS & ONLAYS

An “Inlay” is when the material is bonded in the center of the tooth.
An “Onlay” is when the filling covers one or more parts of the tooth or covers the tooth’s entire surface.

This procedure is an alternative to the crown, preserving more of the tooth’s natural surface while still strengthening and restoring the tooth after decay or deterioration.

DENTAL IMPLANTS

A Dental Implant is a surgical component that interfaces with the bone of the jaw or skull to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, denture, facial prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor.

in a situation of severe tooth decay or tooth loss, Dental Implants are used to replace teeth. It needs first to attach a screw to the jaw to provide support. Then, the implant is inserted into the bone socket of the missing tooth.

How dental implant surgery is performed depends on the type of implant and the condition of your jawbone.

The benefits of a Dental implant is that they function like your own teeth, allowing you to eat your favorite foods with confidence and without pain.
Improved self-esteem. Dental implants can give you back your smile and help you feel better about yourself. Improved oral health.

If you have lost a single tooth due to an accident or from periodontal disease, that one tooth can be replaced using a dental implant. Your new tooth will look and function just like your other natural teeth.
Multiple-implants.png
In specific cases, multiple implant is the best solution. Two fixtures are implanted and the crown is attached, leaving other natural teeth intact. The multiple implant is not for everyone, it may still be preferable to perform a full mouth/arch procedure.

Patients who need to replace a full upper and/or lower set of teeth can now receive full mouth implants. An oral surgeon will place 4 implants and then attach a full arch of teeth, giving the procedure its name

Dental Bonding is the practice of using soft composite resin to fix minor chips or cracks on teeth. The composite resin is pliable, allowing the doctor to mold it into any shape and polish it to any shade.

Why Is Teeth Bonding Done?
Teeth bonding is an option that can be considered:
  • To repair decayed teeth (composite resins are used to fill cavities)
  • To repair chipped or cracked teeth
  • To improve the appearance of discolored teeth

Some of the benefits include: Little to no removal of enamel, retaining the health and natural structure of your tooth.
